A move towards FM

So 702 Talk Radio has, for a long time, been pushing to broadcast on the FM frequency. Don't ask me about technology and AM bandwidth, but there must be something not so kosher if they've been wanting this for sometime. If you recall a couple of months ago 702's transmitter was completely obliterated by a fire, causing the broadcaster to switch onto a different frequency 540 AM, which of course drove Primedia even further and more driven to attain this licence from ICASA. Well it's happened, check out this link and the 702 website for more details... a date is yet to be announced as to when they'll change over. One thing that springs to mind is, and this may be a stupid question, but I'm verbalising anyway, what does this mean for the name- 702??? Any thoughts, holla

Who will it be?

The things that I do. I sat and wandered to myself yesterday about things in this country that I love. I went and watched Tsotsi on Thursday night, by myself (I seem to be having a lot of me time) and I loved it. From a film maker's point of view/ TV student I was so so so impressed. I think it's so close to reality, and yes we have crime here, but you know what when people say "The Grass is greener on the other side" it is but that's just because there's so much more shit to deal with. But yes back to the point as a South African production it was awesome. I have also been wandering who, just who would be the lucky act to open for the brilliant Robbie Williams. Would it be the Parlotones? Would it be Heinz, Ezra, State Far Better or Arno bonehead? Well today finally I heard on 5 who it would be... Congratulations to Freshly Ground. Couldn't think of anyone better. They rock and they'll do so so well. i get goose bumps thinking about their music. Go check them out. I MCed at the Redbull Paperwings competition yesterday, wow waht fun. Well done to Rhett, Darren and Agnes for winning, onward to Joburg and perhaps even Austria. All in all a great weekend. Hoep everyone reading this feels the same

Oink

Well most of the readers of this blog are from the deep Southern part of South Africa aka the Eastern Cape so I believe that this is very relevant and approriate to read. The Pigs are out, well almost... and it's not in the sense that any of us have had a run in with the authorities. It means that the dreaded Swine disease is back... so for those of you who have the craving for eggs and bacon on one of those hanging Saturdays, take a look at this article, and think of this cute little face. No it's not mine. I'm a lot prettier than this. Hi Jen, yip I'm still available on that email address. Will reply as soon as possible. Take care Y'all. And be in touch

And the winner is...

So we've seen who the biggest names in music for 2006 are and now it's time to see who will take home an Oscar for his or her performance or contribution to the film world. I and I'm sure many other South Africans will be routing for the film Tsotsi and Charlize... bring it home!
