Monday Blues... cheer up

So a lot of me friends have started working... That is a fact and a reality of life which we all have to deal with at some stage of our lives <<>>> So one of my working friends- Dev- sent me a very funny email which I think you should all see, And try... and lemme know how well your bosses respond k:

ONE-POINT DARES: (1)

· Ignore the first five people who say 'good morning' to you.

· To signal the end of a conversation, clamp your hands over your ears and grimace.

· Leave your fly open for one hour. If anyone points it out, say, "Sorry, I really prefer it this way".

· Walk sideways to the photocopier.

· While going in an elevator, gasp dramatically each time the doors open.

· When in elevator with one other person, tap them on the shoulder and pretend it wasn't you.

· Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with the prophecy..."

· Don't use any punctuation.

· Use your highlighter pen on the computer screen.

THREE-POINT DARES: (3)

· Say to your boss, "I like your style", wink, and shoot him with double-barrelled fingers while making a clicking sound with your tongue that resembles the sound of a revolver.

· Kneel in front of the water cooler and drink directly from the nozzle.

· Shout random numbers while someone is counting.

· Every time you get an email, shout ''e-mail''.

· Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone is over his or her caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

· Introduce yourself to a new colleague as "the office bicycle". Then wink and pout.

· Call I.T. help desk and tell them that you can't seem to access any pornography web-sites.

FIVE-POINT DARES: (5)

· At the end of a meeting, suggest that, for once, it would be nice to conclude with the singing of the national anthem (extra points if you actually launch into it yourself).

· Walk into a very busy person's office and while they watch you with growing irritation, turn the light switch on/off 10times.

· For an hour, refer to everyone you speak to as "Bob".

· Announce to everyone in a meeting that you "really have to go do a number two".

· In a meeting or crowded situation, slap your forehead repeatedly and mutter, "Shut up, damn it, all of you just shut up!"

· During the course of a meeting, slowly edge your chair towards the door.

· As often as possible, skip rather than walk.

· Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.

· Hump the photocopier. When someone spots you, stop and cough embarrassingly, then lean in to the machine and whisper loudly, "I'll call you tonight".
Hope this brings a smile to your faces...

Off days

So for a long time I've had many days off where on the same day everyone else is working... but not yesterday. Lau and Kadie both had yesterday off, so we decided it was time to get some fresh air and explore the little town we've been in for almost two months. Kadie had never been up the Aspen- otherwise known as Ajax Mountain- and apparently the food is really nice up there, so we went. It takes about fifteen minutes to get up there, but it's well worth the wait... the view that is!!! And of course the three piggies; Piggy J, Piggy K and Piggy Lay had burgers for lunch, plus 50 Cent's line of mineral water called Vitamin Water.... Mmmmm!!!!!

All in all it was absolutely fantastic. Good company, nice food and wow what lovely weather. I even took my jacket off cause the sun was so warm. Here's a video for y'all to see! Stoopidr computer wont let me stick it on the blog, so anyone know why, holla... Otherwise click here
I seem to have many mornings free, and today was no exception. So of course the X Games started today and we went to check it out. I must admit I'm no extreme sports star, but wow these dudes and dudesses can pull off some moves. We watched the practice rounds for the snowboarding events and how much air they get. DAMN. The half pipe ski event was insane too, a couple of skiers came short, and wow did it look sore, but again the amount of airtime they get is crazy. Videos to follow, but here's a pic of the snowboarding slope! HEX!!! The concerts start tomorrow, which should be awesome! Stay tuned...

Riches mo-fos

So while David Beckham is currently moving across the Atlantic to his new soccer team ($250million deal) Forbes magazine conducted a survey on who the richest ladies in entertainment are. It's scary to think how loaded these ladies are:

1. Oprah Winfrey - $1.5 billion. I know a lot of people despise her... I don't. Especially since she opened the Leadership academy in SA. There's someone who is using her money wisely. I recently read an article about that an how Oprah has come under fire about opening a school abroad when there are kids here in the USA who are equally in need of her attention. Well as Oprah stated "The kids here ask for ipods and sneakers, whereas in SA they ask for uniforms so they can go to school! I appreciate her a lot!
2. J.K. Rowling - $1 billion. Considering she was writing on napkins and living in her trailer when she sent the first installment of Harry Potter to the publishing house. She's the wealthiest author in the world. ya think??
3. Martha Stewart $638 million. Wasn't she jailed for fraud at one stage of her career?
4. Madonna- $325 million. Queen of pop... what else can I say?
5. Celine Dion- $250 million. Most of Celine's concerts are in Las Vegas. That means the costs of travelling, hotel fees, production etc is very limited... hence the reason why she gets to pocket more.
6. Mariah Carey - $225 million. Virgin records paid her. YES paid her roughly $28million to buy her out of her contract... hmmmm... would you decline that?
7. Janet Jackson $150 million. She made her first million when she was in her teens... Shame, poor chick.
8. Julia Roberts - $140 million. Win an Oscar and become one of the wealthiest ladies around. GOSH!!! Is that the recipe for success? I like her though, she's a brilliant actress and she seems very cool.
9. Jennifer Lopez - $110 million. "First I wanna be a dancer, then I think I may try acting... that's fun, now I wanna be a singer. Oh but what about a clothing line, a fragrance or three..." What a house on the moon???
10. Jennifer Aniston -$110 million. At 1million an episode for Friends I guess you can actual be that wealthy. Ans she's so lovely too... Brad's a tit!
11. The Olsen Twins - $100 million. What can we say, they were earning millions before they could talk. They're the presidents of their company, they have a clothing line, dolls and games all in their little craddle.
12. Britney Spears - $100 million. She's not even close to thirty, been married twice has two kids with one of the biggest dorks the world is faced with and is the only female singer to have four number one albums!
13. Judge Judy - $95 million. AAAh come on..... seriously. That show is shit, why? Why? Why?
14. Sandra Bullock - $85 million. This came as a bit of a shock, no lies!!
15. Cameron Diaz - $75 million. I guess with all that money a little bit of retail therapy couldn't hurt Cam after her recent break-up with JT. But then and again maybe she's hooking up with Jude Law- curse of the co-stars huh? Brad and Ange, Kate and Owen. Could they be the next golden couple? Or maybe she'll hook up with Shrek ;) The third installment drops later this year!
16. Gisele Bundchen - $70 million. The only model on the list...
17. Ellen DeGeneres - $65 million. HAHAHAHA... you still have a way to go if you wanna catch Oprah, but still you're loaded and I guess you're laughing at me now. I like your show though, sometimes!
18. Nicole Kidman - $60 million. Flaming lilly white Ozzie, guess she has to help pay for her hubbies Rehab!!
19. Christina Aguilera -$60 million. Dirrty gal got what she wanted, first nice an innocent worked, then Dirrty slutty Xtina helped shed her girl-next-door image and now she's a diva inspired by 20s,30s and 40's jazz. I like thr growth, I wouldn't mind your earnings though, that's amazingly big money!
20. Renee Zellweger - $45 million. I guess if I was getting paid close to 10mill a movie I'd also be putting on all that weight like Renee did in Bridget Jones's Diary-twice.

How crazy is that? They're loaded, but they all work hard and I reckon they deserve it? Dare I say it but is the 21st century going to ruled by the ladies? I think exciting and interesting times lye ahead! Especially with good old Hilary Clinton in the running for the presidency here... GO HIL!!

Quiet times...

Well I've been quiet, Aspen is quiet and things are calm... But things won't be quiet for much longer as the 11th annual Winter X Games come to town next week. And if you're lucky enough to be here here's some info for ya:

"The 11th annual ESPN Winter X Games to be held at Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado for a sixth consecutive year is scheduled for Thursday, January 25 through Sunday, January 28, 2007. All Winter X Games competitions will take place at the resort's Buttermilk Mountain.
The annual Winter X Games is the premier winter action sports event in the world, featuring athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: Moto X, Skiing, Snowboard and SnoCross. Winter X Games 11 will air live on ESPN and ABC and will feature nighttime events." Some of the other events include the Superpipe event, which is crazy-wild and awesome to watch, the snowmobile snocross event. Damn I be excited for this... Wanna know what else? Click here

If you aren't lucky enough to be here I'll take photos, videos and give you all the news. PLUS the Apres Ski concerts are going to be off the hook. Last year Juliet and the Licks were here, as was Damien Marley and Flipsyde, and that was in sane. Confirmed acts include Everclear (doth anyone know??), Common and Blackalicious. But now check this out the rumour mill has it that The Red Hot Chilli Peppers will be here along with The Fray, The Killers and the lead singer from Jane's Addiction... So if that's true that'll be awesome, if not... well I'm sure there'll be some other interesting peops! Anyway I leave you with a taste of Common, live and ft Will-I-Am. Peace!

News from abroad!

Hello from a snowy Aspen... it's the third Friday in a row to snow. Been a rather univentful week, I must admit. On Sunday night we had our Helly Hansen staff party, which Rae crashed... but we love her, so it's fine. The evening's events were as follows: Sushi and cocktails followed by ice (in some cases arse) skating. This sounds like a scene out of a movie but Lau exclaimed "Shoo but now I feel like I'm in America, skating in an open air ice rink" How precious!!! It was really fun and good to hang out with these peops, we all get along which helps!! Wanna see more pics click here...

Other than that I had two full days off on Tuesday and Wednesday... I wasn't feeling so great after a night out so I chilled on Tuesday, read my book... Spud by John van de Ruit and listened to my Ipod, was nice me time. On Wednesday myself, Brett and Jerry headed up to Snowmass for some snowboarding and skiing respectively. What fun... I got a little ahead of myself and too confident so I attempted a jump off one of the run. I came so so so short, my board, attached to me, proceeded to do several 360degree turns.. with me attached!!! Eish well it was worth a shot, maybe next time, but it was at that stage that I lost all confidence and ambition so I called it a day.

In some entertainment news now. The biggest upset this year thus far is the break up of glamour couple Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake. In a joint statement released yesterday the exes said, "We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship, and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another". I think it's so sad and already here in the States the rumour mill is buzzing, as Justin has been spotted hanging out- a lot- with World's sexiest Scarlett Johannsen. She stars in his new music video "What goes around" by the way... Maybe JT didn't like Cam's newer, darker hairdo? Oh which by the way the girls reckon I should try, dark hair me? Hmmm... negative!

The new episode of Greys Anatomy came out last night... That show, eish. It be awesome, but I aint giving anything away! I'm sure the cast and the show itself will walk away with a couple of awards at this year's Golden Globe Awards, <nominees>which takes place in LA on Monday, all the news, winners and more... right here on the jVonBlog. Until then, good... and safe weekend k

Out with the old... in with the new!

It couldn't have come at a better time- 2007 that is! And with the New Year comes new stars, new music, new films and of course new TV series. On Tuesday evening the first instalment of Courtney Cox's new show Dirt premiered right here in the States. It tells the stories of those who work for a entertainment/gossip magazin, how they find the stories, who makes it to the front page and just in general all about the industry the characters find themselves in. Watch the trailer here..I must admit it'll probably take another episode to get into it, but it's receiving great reviews and a lot of commercial time so the FX network obviously holds a lot of faith in the show. Courtnay is looking gorgeous now, and it seems like her break from TV after Friends has done her the world of good!

Speaking of other shows... The OC has met its demise. The show will end for next month according to Fox bosses (the 22nd of February to be precise) "This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close," said the show's creator and executive producer Josh Schwartz. I couldn't agree more, but please feel free to if you disagree, but as soon as Mischa Barton (Marissa) left the show last season... I kinda got the impression that the show would die out. She was- in my opinion- the star character. Anyway if you'd like to, read the full article click here. The new Greys Anatomy is on its way, as is the new Desperate Housewives, Prison Break and of course American Idol.

Aspen is really quiet at the moment. I guess the holidays are just about done, but there are so many Ozzies here on holiday. It must be kinda cheap for them to get over here. I met a really nice elderly lady in the store on Tuesday from Joburg. She was just one of those people who I instantly warmed to because she was so nice, and it's rather refreshing to meet someone like that. In terms of celeb spottings I waited on Faith Hill and Tim McGraw... It was funny he came in with his family- I presume and I didn't recognise him, but as soon she came in I recognised her... But to be sure I googled a picture to see if it was her, which it was. She seems pretty sweet but check this out, got her some bad publicity. Today Melanie Griffiths came in. She's very nice, didn't quite realise it was her until she paid- probably the best celeb I've waited on!! It hasn't snowed here in over two weeks, and it looks like it may tonight, which is fab cause I really wanna go boarding tomorrow and fresh powder would be awesome. If not, it's gonna be pretty sore should I fall, which is a big probability! Last night I went with Kadie and Lau to movies to watch The Holiday- What a lekker film. If you haven't seen it and you feel like something light go check it out. It stars Cameron Diaz, who is newly single apparently, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. Here's a sneak peak...

Stay tuned for more on Award season and more, right here on the JVonBlog! Peace
