Ever since his win in February, Director of the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi Gavin Hood seems to be the man of the moment. The win has firmly positioned South Africa's film industry on the map, with many international film makers itching to get involved here. Some of the films on the go at the moment include the Autobiographical film of the late former cricket captain Hansie Cronje. Anant Singh, who is highly acclaimed in the industry is involved in a film about the life of Nelson Mandela... So that's the movie industry, but what is Gavin Hood up to now? Well Gavin is set to direct a movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal are reportedly in final negotiations with him to in the thriller Rendition. Is there a recipe for success here? I think so... Jake was nominated for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain, and Reese was nominated for and walked away with the coverted title of Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Johnny Cash's wife, June Carter Cash, in Walk The Line.

Kiff life for Mr Hood who will travel to Los Angeles, Washington, Morocco and South Africa starting in November and is scheduled for release in 2007. Now in other news the very controversial 21year old Ashlee Simpson is in London at the moment starring in the play Chicago. In a recent interview the sister of Ashlee Simpson says she goes weak at the knees for English men because they are so charming. She said: "They are really sexy, I like their accents."
